Brenda: You froze her accounts?
Chloe: I had to. You were draining them.
Brenda: I was paying for her end-of-life care!
Chloe: First class tickets to Paris are not end-of-life care, Brenda.
Brenda: I needed a break! The stress was killing me.
Mr. Vance: You also took out a second mortgage on the mansion.
Brenda: That was to cover the medical bills.
Chloe: Medicare covered her bills. You bought a luxury car.
Brenda: It was a reliable vehicle to drive her to appointments!
Mr. Vance: A two-door sports car is hardly a medical transport vehicle.
The pastor cleared his throat nervously from the altar, but no one in the front pew paid him any attention.
Brenda: You two have no idea what it was like living with her.
Chloe: I know she was confused at the end. I know she trusted you.
Brenda: She did trust me! Which is why she gave me Power of Attorney.
Mr. Vance: She revoked that power six months ago.
Brenda: You're lying.
Mr. Vance: I have the documents right here in my briefcase.
Brenda: She would never do that without telling me.
Chloe: She was afraid of you, Brenda.
Brenda: Shut your mouth! You are just a greedy little orphan.
Chloe: She told me you were forcing her to sign blank checks.
Brenda: She had dementia! She didn't know what she was saying.
Mr. Vance: Her primary doctor cleared her as mentally competent the day she signed the new will.
Brenda: New will? What new will?
Brenda gripped the wooden back of the pew, her knuckles turning completely white under the strain.
Mr. Vance: She updated her estate plan to protect her assets.
Brenda: Protect them from who?
Chloe: From you, Brenda.
Brenda: This is a setup. You hired this fake lawyer to steal my inheritance.
Mr. Vance: I can assure you, I am very real, and so is the impending lawsuit.
Brenda: Lawsuit? For what?
Mr. Vance: Fraud, embezzlement, and elder abuse.
Brenda: You have absolutely no proof of any of that.
Chloe: We have all the bank statements, Brenda.
Mr. Vance: We also have video footage from the bank teller.
Brenda: She told me to cash those checks!
Chloe: You forged her signature on the trust fund withdrawal.
Brenda: It was my money! I am her biological daughter.
Mr. Vance: Blood does not give you a license to steal.
Brenda: I am calling my husband. He will have you both arrested.
Chloe: Go ahead. Call him.
Brenda: I will!
Brenda reached into her designer purse, her hands shaking violently as she pulled out her phone.
Mr. Vance: While you have him on the phone, you might want to ask him about the foreclosure.
