Victoria: My tiara! Careful with my jewelry, you brute!
Officer Vance: That tiara was purchased with stolen trust fund assets, ma'am. It is now evidence.
Elena: You thought I was helpless just because my father was sick in the hospital, didn't you?
Julian: Elena, please! Talk to them! We can fix this! We were going to get married next month!
Elena: The engagement was a lie, Julian. You only proposed so you could gain control of my family's shipping company.
Julian: That isn't true! I loved you!
Elena: You loved my father's shares. And when you realized I wouldn't sign them over, you tried to frame me for stealing from your mother's charity.
Elena walked over to the head table where a small velvet box sat beside the champagne fountain. She picked up the velvet box, opened it, and pulled out a heavy platinum ring set with a massive emerald.
Elena: You told everyone this ring was an heirloom from your grandmother.
Julian: It is an heirloom!
Elena: It belonged to my mother. You took it out of our family vault three weeks ago using a stolen key code.
The crowd gasped again, several high-profile investors looking at Julian with disgust.
Investor 1: Is that true, Julian? Did you steal from the Montgomery vault?
Julian: No! She gave it to me as a gift!
Elena: I have the vault security footage right here on my phone, Julian. Do you want me to project it onto the ballroom screen for everyone to watch?
Julian closed his eyes, unable to answer as his head dropped in complete defeat.
Victoria: Elena, please... think of our family reputation! Think of the charity work we do!
Elena: Your charity is a tax shelter, Victoria. The federal agents are raiding your downtown office right now.
Victoria: No... no, my business!
Elena: Every single dollar you stole from my mother's estate is being returned today. And your mansion is being placed under a federal freeze.
Julian: Elena, don't do this to my mother! She is an old woman!
Elena: She didn't care about my family when she slapped me across the face in front of two hundred people.
Elena turned her back on them, walking toward the center of the ballroom where her father's chief legal advisor, Mr. Sterling, was waiting with a thick leather briefcase.
Mr. Sterling: Excellent work, Miss Elena. The emergency injunction was signed by the judge ten minutes ago.
Elena: Are my father's assets completely secured?
Mr. Sterling: Every single account has been restored. Vance Capital has been stripped of all voting power in your shipping firm.
Elena: And what about the bankruptcy filing they tried to force on us?
Mr. Sterling: Dismissed by the federal court. The Vance family is the one facing total liquidation now.
Julian tried to pull away from the guard holding him, his face red with desperation as he yelled across the room.
Julian: Elena! Look at me! You're ruining everything we built!
Elena: You built a house of cards on my family's money, Julian. It was bound to fall.
Officer Vance: Move them out to the transport vehicles.
The guards led Julian and Victoria through the middle of the crowded ballroom. Guests pulled back their evening gowns, making way for the disgraced socialites as paparazzi flashes lit up the glass entrance doors outside.
