David: You thought you were so smart, didn't you?
Amanda: David, listen to me for one second! We can talk about this privately in the dressing room!
David: There is nothing private left between us, Amanda.
Mr. Vance: I called the police, David. The patrol cars are two minutes away.
Mrs. Sterling: Call the police? For a misunderstanding? Do you know what this will do to our family’s reputation in the city?
David: Your daughter tried to murder my son for his inheritance, Mrs. Sterling! Your reputation is the least of your concerns!
Amanda turned around, her eyes darting frantically toward the side windows leading to the outdoor pool deck. She grabbed the heavy skirt of her bridal dress, preparing to run.
Sarah: Stop her! She’s going for the terrace!
David: Stand down, Amanda! You're not going anywhere.
Before she could reach the glass doors, the lead venue guard stepped into her path, blocking her path with his arms crossed.
Security Guard: Step back, ma'am. You need to wait for the officers.
Amanda: Get your hands off me, you cheap security guard!
David: Hand over the bottle, Amanda. Make it easy on yourself.
Amanda reached slowly into the fold of her lace gown. Her fingers trembled as she pulled out a small brown glass vial with no prescription label. She stared at it for a second, then threw it against the marble floor, trying to break it. But the small bottle bounced off the carpet runner and rolled right to Sarah's shoes.
Sarah: I got it, Sir! It didn't break!
David: Hold onto that, Sarah. That is primary evidence for the crime scene unit.
Amanda: You ruined everything, Sarah! You were just supposed to clean the tables!
Sarah: I clean tables, ma'am, but I don't stand by and watch a human being get murdered in cold blood.
David: How long were you planning this, Amanda?
Amanda: I didn't plan anything! My mother gave me those pills!
Mrs. Sterling: What?! Amanda, shut your mouth right now!
Amanda: She told me we were three weeks away from foreclosure on our estate! She said the Vance trust fund was the only way out!
The entire room gasped even louder as Mrs. Sterling's face turned pale white. She stepped back, bumping into the flower display.
Mr. Vance: So both of you were in on this scam from the beginning!
Mrs. Sterling: She's lying! She's panicking and making up stories!
Amanda: You bought the chemical online, Mom! You used your own credit card!
David: Unbelievable. A mother and daughter murder plot at a five-star wedding.
The loud, sharp wail of police sirens broke through the afternoon air outside, growing closer as three patrol cars pulled into the country club driveway.
