The morning sun poured through the stained-glass windows of the luxury country club in Miami, painting the marble floors in golden light. Over two hundred wealthy guests sat in the cushioned white chairs, waiting for us to exchange our wedding vows. My tailored tuxedo felt warm against my chest, but my heart was racing with excitement. Beside me stood my beautiful bride, Amanda, wearing a custom lace gown and holding a crystal champagne glass.
Amanda: Take a sip, sweetheart. To our brand new life together.
David: Thank you, my love. You look absolutely breathtaking today.
Amanda: Drink it all. You've been working so hard planning this entire ceremony.
I raised the sparkling glass to my lips, smelling the sweet vintage wine. But before the glass could touch my teeth, a sudden rush of footsteps echoed across the marble altar.
Sarah: Stop! Drop that glass right now!
Before I could even process the shout, Sarah, the venue maid, lunged forward and slapped the crystal glass right out of my hand. The glass hit the floor, shattering into dozens of sharp pieces as the dark liquid splashed across the white marble deck.
The entire hall gasped in utter shock, guests standing up from their seats. My mother dropped her pearl purse onto the floor.
David: What the hell are you doing?!
Amanda: You crazy servant! You just ruined my fifty-thousand-dollar wedding gown!
Sarah: Don't touch that drink, Sir! Don't drink a single drop!
David: Are you out of your mind? You just smashed our wedding toast in front of everyone!
Sarah: Don't drink it! It's poisoned!
Amanda's face flushed bright red with rage. She raised her hand and slapped Sarah hard across the cheek, the crack echoing through the dead-silent room.
Amanda: Get out of my wedding, you lying trash!
Sarah stumbled back, holding her stinging cheek, but she didn't run away. Instead, she pulled a black smartphone out of her apron pocket and pointed it directly at my face.
Sarah: Look at the screen, Sir! Look at what she did in the dressing room five minutes ago!
I looked down at the bright screen, and what I saw on that video made my blood run completely cold, changing my entire life in a single second.
