Claire: You... you slapped me? In front of my family?
Mark: You just humiliated an innocent woman in front of two hundred people and tried to ruin her life!
Claire: She's just a maid! Who cares about her?
Mark: She's been your best friend for ten years, Claire! She worked two jobs just to afford the bridesmaid dress for your wedding!
Elena: Claire, I gave up my entire savings account to help you pay for your bridal shower venue...
Claire: Stay out of this, Elena! You're nothing!
Mark stepped directly between Claire and Elena, shielding Elena with his shoulder. He looked down at Claire with pure disgust.
Mark: Don't speak to her like that ever again.
Claire's Mother: Mark! How dare you lay a hand on my daughter! This ceremony is supposed to unite our corporate merger!
Mark: Your daughter is a malicious liar, Mrs. Davis. The merger is canceled.
Claire's Mother: You can't cancel the agreement! Our real estate firm invested five million dollars into your family's development project last month!
Mark: Check your email, Mrs. Davis. My father's legal team sent the termination papers five minutes ago when we saw the initial footage in the green room.
Claire’s mother pulled out her smartphone, her hands shaking as her eyes scanned the screen. Her jaw dropped open in horror.
Claire's Mother: No... no, this will bankrupt our firm! Claire, do something! Fix this!
Claire: Mark, please! I was just insecure! I thought you were looking at Elena during the rehearsal dinner yesterday!
Mark: You framed her for grand theft because of your own twisted jealousy?
Claire: I wanted her out of the wedding! I wanted you to see that she couldn't be trusted!
Elena: I have never looked at Mark as anything other than a brother, Claire! I loved you like a sister!
Claire: Shut up! You stole my spotlight! You always play the sweet, innocent victim!
Mark pulled the gold wedding band out of his tuxedo pocket and tossed it onto the marble floor. It clinked sharply against the stone and rolled until it hit the hem of Claire's white dress.
Mark: The wedding is over. Get out of this venue.
Claire: Mark, no! We can go to counseling! We can fix this before the reception!
Mark: If you don't leave this stage right now, I'm pressing criminal charges for false accusation and defamation of character.
Elena: Mark, please... let's just calm down.
Mark: No, Elena. She needs to face the consequences of what she did to you.
Two venue security officers in black uniforms walked up the side steps of the stage, their expressions serious as they stopped beside Claire.
Security Guard: Ma'am, we need you to step off the stage and come with us to the office upstairs.
Claire: Get your hands off me! Do you know who my father is?!
Security Guard: Your father doesn't own this country club, ma'am. The groom's family does. Please move quietly.
Claire looked around the room, desperate for someone to take her side. But every guest in the audience was looking at her with cold disapproval, holding up their phones to record her tearful, messy breakdown.
