"I installed security cameras after the house renovation," he said calmly.
"I wanted to make sure everything stayed safe."
He opened the recorded footage.
The video clearly showed Linda walking to the staircase only minutes earlier.
She looked around to make sure no one was watching.
Then she slowly poured oil onto several steps.
Afterward, she walked away as though nothing had happened.
The room became completely silent.
Emma covered her mouth in disbelief.
David stared at the screen for several long seconds.
Then he looked at his mother.
"No," he said quietly.
"I saw everything."
Linda's face turned pale.
She struggled to find words.

Nothing came out.

Emma felt tears filling her eyes.
