The morning sunlight filled every corner of the beautiful family home. Everything looked peaceful from the outside, but inside the house, the atmosphere had quietly changed over the past few months.
Emma was expecting her first baby.
Every step she took required extra care, especially on the long staircase leading to the first floor. Her husband, David, constantly reminded her to move slowly and hold the handrail.
"You and the baby are my whole world," he often told her.
That morning, David had stepped outside for a quick work call.
Emma carefully started walking downstairs.
She held the railing with one hand while gently supporting her baby bump with the other. She smiled, thinking about the nursery they were finishing together.
Hidden nearby, however, someone watched in silence.
David's mother, Linda, quietly stood where Emma couldn't see her.
Moments earlier, she had secretly poured a thin layer of cooking oil onto several steps before walking away as if nothing had happened.
Emma knew nothing about it.
She took another careful step.
Suddenly, her foot slid forward.
