A Wealthy Woman Slapped Her Housekeeper Until The Little Boy Spoke Up

The high school gym was transformed into a glittering ballroom, filled with twinkling fairy lights and heavy bass shaking the floorboards.

Beth: Look at her sitting over there by the bleachers. She actually showed up!

Chloe: She thinks she can dance? In that giant blue gown?

Beth and Chloe laughed loudly, their sequined champagne dresses catching the light as they pointed directly across the crowded room.

Maya sat alone in her wheelchair, her hands gripping the cold armrests until her knuckles turned white. Tears pooled in her eyes, spilling over her flushed cheeks.

Maya: Stop looking at me. Please... just stop.

Beth: You're clogging up the floor, Maya! Prom is for people who can actually walk!

A few onlookers snickered, while others quickly averted their eyes in uncomfortable silence. Maya lowered her head, sobbing quietly into her hands as her trembling breath hitched in her chest.

Maya: I shouldn't have come. This was a huge mistake.

Suddenly, the music shifted as an upbeat pop track began to blast through the speakers. A tall boy in a sharp black tuxedo cut straight through the middle of the crowded dance floor, stepping firmly toward the corner.

Chloe: Wait, why is Julian walking over there?

Julian stopped directly in front of Maya's wheelchair. He ignored the stares of the entire senior class, slowly bending down and extending his right hand toward her.

Julian: May I have this dance?

Maya: Julian... what are you doing? Everyone is laughing.

Julian: She's not the one looking foolish, Maya. They are.

Maya looked up at Julian, her heart racing as a mixture of shock and sudden hope washed over her tear-streaked face.

Beth: Julian, are you insane? You're the star athlete! You can't dance with someone who can't even stand!

Julian didn't even turn his head toward Beth. He kept his eyes locked on Maya's, giving her a gentle, reassuring nod.

Julian: Ready to show them what real strength looks like?

Maya swallowed her tears, her shaking fingers reaching out to take his hand as the crowd held its collective breath.
