The ballroom was filled with joy as family and friends gathered to celebrate Ethan and Grace's ring ceremony. Bright afternoon sunlight streamed through the tall windows, making the elegant decorations sparkle. Soft music played while guests smiled, laughed, and took photos of the happy couple.
Everything seemed perfect.
As part of the celebration, Grace picked up a glass of fresh juice and smiled at Ethan.
"One sip for good luck," she said playfully.
The guests laughed and watched the sweet moment.
Just as Ethan leaned forward to take the drink, a little girl named Lily suddenly rushed toward them.
Before anyone understood what she was doing, she bumped into Grace's hand.
The glass slipped free.
It shattered on the floor.
The room instantly became silent.
Ethan looked at the broken glass with disbelief.
"Lily!" he said. "Why would you do that?"
The little girl looked frightened, but she didn't back away.
"I had to stop you," she said.
Guests exchanged confused looks.
Grace frowned.
"What are you talking about?"
Lily pointed at the spilled juice.
"There was a cockroach in it."
The crowd gasped.
Grace immediately shook her head.
"That's impossible."
Lily remained calm.
"I saw how it got there."
Ethan looked from Lily to Grace.
"What do you mean?"
Lily reached into her pocket and unlocked her phone.
"I recorded something because I thought no one would believe me."
Curious guests gathered around.
The video showed Grace alone near the refreshment table before the ceremony. She quietly opened the glass and deliberately dropped a cockroach into the juice before placing it back exactly where it had been.
The room became completely silent.
Ethan watched the video twice.
His smile disappeared.
He slowly lowered the phone.
"Grace..." he whispered.
Grace looked down, unable to meet his eyes.
"I can explain."
Ethan shook his head.
"You should have told me the truth instead of hiding it."
The guests whispered among themselves, stunned by what they had just seen.
Lily stood quietly to one side.
She hadn't wanted to interrupt the ceremony, but she also couldn't let Ethan drink from the glass.
One of the older guests stepped forward.
"That little girl did the right thing."
Several others nodded in agreement.
Ethan looked at Lily with gratitude.
"Thank you for speaking up."
Lily smiled nervously.
"I didn't want anyone to get sick."
The ceremony came to a stop while everyone processed what had happened.
Grace admitted she had acted out of jealousy after a misunderstanding, believing a cruel prank would embarrass Ethan without thinking about the consequences.
The guests were disappointed, but they appreciated that the truth had come out before anyone was harmed.
A fresh drink was prepared, and the damaged refreshments were removed.
Before everyone left, Ethan thanked Lily once again.
"You showed more courage than most adults would."
Lily smiled.
"I just did what I thought was right."
